AfterWork-Party 2008 with biathlon

Aims. Full concentration...and success!

The 3rd AfterWork-Party at Kässbohrer in Laupheim was again a sensational success.

Lots of sun and a little snow – ideal conditions yet again to celebrate the 3rd AfterWork-Party at the end of the season with more than 1,400 guests from all over the world.

Kässbohrer presented the whole range of slope and track grooming vehicles from the PistenBully and Formatic brands, the Formatic 350, the tracksetting pro PistenBully Paana, the PistenBully 100, the snow groomers PistenBully 400 and PistenBully 600 Polar, and the PistenBully Scout transporter. The focus was the PistenBully EQ.1, a study of a vehicle with diesel-electric drive. However, there was “only” a reference vehicle on show, which revealed the differences between the conventional drive and the new diesel-electric Several test vehicles are working around the world. Guests could watch the results of the test vehicles on a video terminal.

Test drives on a vehicle equipped with SNOWsat were available outside. SNOWsat is a satellite navigation system with snow depth measurement, which will help ski resorts achieve economical and effective slope preparation.

A Used Vehicle Show at the 3rd AfterWork-Party offered a broad selection of older PistenBully, which were available for purchase with inspected quality and skilled advice. 12 of the 50 used vehicles changed hands. The different preparation levels, Economy, Standard or Premium guarantee for customers that all vehicles have been inspected in the workshop. Everyone found the right PistenBully here, whether they mainly wanted to service the PistenBully themselves, or preferred the quality of the PistenBully workshops and, thus, a guarantee for their used vehicle.

Interested customers were also able to find out about the latest news in the GreenTech field. Various vehicles were presented, from the PistenBully Paana GreenTech with fitted front mulcher to the PistenBully 300 GreenTech for depositing silage in flat silos.

Customers were shown the latest working parts in the replacement parts area and, of course, seasonal summer parts  PistenBully Telemetry was also presented; a system for remote error diagnosis. Naturally, the expert Kässbohrer service team were there again with some helpful tips and advice. Guests were quick to take the opportunity of seeing PistenBully production.

The PistenBully Biathlon was definitely the highlight of the day! Cross-country and Alpine ski resorts were assessed separately for fairness. Over 140 teams took part this year. The biathlon teams displayed enthusiasm and (sometimes Olympia) competitive spirit when they completed against one another. They had to cover 280 metres in freestyle, quickly lower their pulse and then hit 5 bull’s-eyes with laser guns. The competition was decided on the shooting range. The 40-metre-long penalty loop was merciless.

Some participants struggled metre-by-metre through the course. In contrast, others gave world-class performances. Every position was hard fought. The fun united the competitors in the PistenBully Biathlon, who came from over 25 nations. The international guests came from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Romania, Bulgaria, New Zealand, Ukraine, Russia, Scotland and Spain. The course was prepared the night before the 1st competition day with around 900 cubic metres of snow. A further 250 cubic metres were added each day to maintain the course. The Neuss ski venue and the Fritz Fischer and Salomon Biathlon Camp helped Kässbohrer Geländefahrzeug with the professional execution.

Lugnet Falun from Sweden in the Alpine ski resort category took overall victory. Ruhpolding from Upper Bavaria successfully defended its title for the second time in the cross-country ski resort category. The winners get a PistenBully 600 and a PistenBully 100 free of charge for four weeks. In addition to valuable prizes for the winners, there was also an attractive prize for the ski companies thanks to the committed work of their staff at the AfterWork-Party.

There was an amusing evening event to complete the AfterWork-Party, which the thrilled guests are sure to remember for a long time. A successful end to the season!
